The area is quiet and peaceful with lovely walks and along in the tiny hamlet of Roxburgh you can go on four different organised walks looking for wild flowers, birds and wildlife. Owls nest in the famous 13 arch disused railway viaduct which has survived. Walk along the top and see the magnificent views.
Kelso is a quaint town and still has some cobbled streets. There are some lovely shops, plus local butchers, bakers, fishmongers, delecatesence selling local produce such as ice cream, cheese, yoghurt drinks, muesli, tablet, honey and much more.
We have 16 different golf courses including the Championship course at the Roxburghe only 10 minutes from the cottages. Terry Gale the Australian golfer stayed with us when he won the Senior Championship.
All the Border towns have their own rugby teams with the 7's tournaments taking place in April and late August/September. www.scottishrugby.org/sru/community-rugby

Kelso ice rink Curling is available Monday to Saturday from September to March. Kelso has produced 2 Gold medal winners in the senior World Championships in Canada. Competitons are held throughout the year. Ice skating on Sunday. Tel 01573 224774.
The Jim Clark Rally takes place every summer. The Irish team of Eugene Donnelly and Paul Kiely (this years winners) have stayed here for the past four years.
Kelso is blessed with some of the best fishing in Scotland - the Tweed and Teviot meeting here and both a very close to the cottages. Visitors can fish for salmon and trout, with permits available from the local fishing tackle shops. www.kelsofishing.com.
Kelso Races, with 13 fixtures in the race calendar, has been voted Britains Friendliest Racecourse by the Sunday Times.
